Good News To Fat People - Obesity Is Not Linked To Heart Disease
A recent survey done by researchers at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx shows that more than half of overweight people and almost one third of obese people in America do not have a higher risk of cardiac disease. The surprising result published on August 11th 2008 denied normal belief between the link of obesity to heart ailments. According to Rachel Wildman, a principal co-author of the report, "We kind of got it into our heads that obesity is automatically bad for you, but this study shows that there is a subset of obese individuals who don't develop adverse effects." Wildman continue, "We were surprised by the magnitude, If you're obese, it doesn't mean you have the risk factors, and if you're not obese, it doesn't mean you don't." The wide-ranging survey by researchers discovered that 51% of overweight adults which is 36 million people nationwide, have a normal levels of heart disease indicators. Almost 32% of obese individuals which is equal to nearly 20 million people, were likewise found to be metabolically healthy. On the other hand, as high as 24% of Americans with the recommended weight did display risk factors like abnormal levels of blood pressure, cholesterol, blood fats and blood sugar.
