Put Your Metabolism To Work For You

Diet does not mean to starve yourself, in fact eating more often in smaller meal can actually help to shed extra pound. We eat food for fuel. When food is burned for energy the process creates heat. Our body burns calories even when we sleep. If we want to burn more calories, we need to have a faster rate of metabolism. Here's some tips to help you increase your rate of metabolism:

  • Do Not Skip Your Breakfast - Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Upon awakening our body starving for fuel, it needs food to get our metabolism revved. If you skip breakfast you'll lack the energy to burn those extra calories throughout the day.

  • Eat More Often - Our bodies work hard to digest and absorb the foods we eat, as a result our metabolism revs in response. This is called the thermic effect of food. If you want to burn more calories, you should eat 5-6 meals a day. This can be achieved by making your meals smaller and add healthy snacks between meals. Eating smaller more frequent meals is a good way to increase rate of metabolism as there will always be something for the body to digest and thereby increasing the calories burnt in the digestion of the food.

  • Drink Plenty Of Water - Water helps to increase our body metabolism, it can also work as appetite suppressant to keep away hunger. If you want to lose weight the healthy way be sure to stay hydrated.

  • Stay Away From High Fat, High Sugar, Processed Foods - These foods take ver little energy to be digested and are quickly stored away for future use. If you want to boost your metabolism then you need to stay away from them.

  • Consume More Fruits, Vegetables and Protein - Fruits and vegetable that contain high fiber and lean sources of protein are some of the most energy demanding foods to digest. If you want to increase your metabolism you should take more of these food.

  • Perform Aerobic Exercises - Engaging in aerobic exercise such as swimming, running, bicycling and jogging can burn calories. Latest studies show that aerobic activities also cause our metabolism to stay increased for a period of time even after the exercise.

  • Build Your Muscle - The biggest factor effecting metabolism is muscle tissue. The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn in minute. Lifting weights and strengthening activities like push-ups are good for building muscle.
